Chronic conditions
Diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions in the Kingdom, and the good news is that most complications can be avoided with regular follow-up and simple daily habits.
Habits that make a difference
Start with one change a week instead of changing everything at once:
- Check your blood sugar at fixed times and log the readings
- Walk for 30 minutes on most days of the week
- Cut back on sweetened drinks and packaged juices
- Include protein with every meal to reduce blood sugar spikes
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep
- Check your feet daily
- Keep your HbA1c test appointment every 3 months
When should you see a doctor?
If your readings repeatedly rise above the target agreed with your doctor, or you feel dizzy, very thirsty or notice numbness in your hands or feet, book an appointment in the family medicine and internal medicine clinic without delay.
